Kúra - Debut album coming April 30th, 2012...

Kúra is an electronica trio consisting of two Islandic cousins - Producer Brynjar Bjarnfoss who grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark and Singer Fanney Ósk Þórisdóttir from Reykjavik, Iceland. The last member is Rasmus Liebst, Denmark.

The playlist consists of four tracks: Gógó and Einstein (from the 2010 EP) and Anchor and Joe from the upcoming debut album scheduled for release April 30th, 2012.

This sounds very interesting. All their tracks have a very destinct sound...

Isco Ultra Star CinemaScope with Jupiter 11A 135mm f/4.0...

Another short lens test with an old Russian Jupiter 11A 135mm f/4.0 lens.

Field of view and sharpness can be compared with the 50mm Canon EF that I used in this video: vimeo.com/39935675

The Jupiter has a minimum focusing distance of 1m but it wouldn't focus well through the Isco at anything closer than 2m - so that is what the first two shots are.

The Jupiter's aperture has 12 'blades' that are rounded, so that the bokeh looks perfectly round at all apertures. The lens has a lot more contrast than the Helios 44M-4 58mm f/2, that I ordered a while back.

The Jupiter is slightly soft but for video, I like that. I think, I might use this with the Isco from now on too.

I have ordered a couple Canon FD lenses. A 50mm SSC f/1.4 and a 100mm SSC f/2.8. I hope they work with the Isco too.

Footage is straight from the GH2. The only thing done is post was the squeeze to 1920x608. The Isco is a 1.7x anamorphic lens.

A Super Mario Summary - play it now...

I never really played video games a lot. However, I do remember playing Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and Dig Dug at the local 'take away' shop (we called them grill bars in Denmark) in the early arcade machine days... :)

Click Mario above and play a summary of every level of the original Super Mario Brothers Game.

Isco Ultra Star CinemaScope with +3 achromat...

Testing the result of using a Marumi DHG 330 +3 achromat with the Isco Ultra Star Cinemascope.

Without the achromat, minimum focusing distance is 5 feet.

With the +3 achromat, minimum focusing distance is just under 1 foot.

Panasonic GH2 hacked with Driftwood's Sedna A Q20 - Standard @ -2, -2, -1, 0.

Lens used: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 at f/2.8 (and f/5.6 at the end).

Footage is straight from the GH2. Nothing done in post other than the squeeze to 1920x608 (3.16:1 aspect ratio).

The Isco is a 1.7x anamorphic lens.

The Marumi and my Singh-Ray Vari-N-Trio (variable ND filter) add 4cm (1.57 inches) to the front of the Isco but there is very little to no vignetting to be seen. That's a good thing :)
